20th Anniversary
20th Anniversary
My dad called me on Sunday night.
Dad: Wuwu, you know what is today?
Me: Um...Sunday?
Dad: No! 1/18!
Me: Ohh...the day we came to America. Wow, 20 years?
Dad: Yes. To celebrate, I buy you anything you want!Ok, maybe he didn't say that last part, though I wished he did. But honestly, being able to move to America is better than anything I could ever want or wish for. America, the land of opportunity...the land of the free. It's definitely lived up to it's name for me and my family. We came here with practically nothing, and look at where we are now, 20 years later. We all have new cars and own two houses.
It wasn't an easy road to reach this point. I remember my parents working several jobs, and me and my sister helping out. There were lots of sacrifices and gambles, but luckily, they paid off. My dad took a huge gamble when he went from a stable full time job to being a full time artist. It was a very stressful time for the family. But we were blessed and now his career is thriving. Plus, my dad gets to work his dream job, doing something he truly loves.
I'm also very thankful to my grandpa for getting us here. If it weren't for him, we would still be in China. Although he's no longer with us, I know he's looking down on us with a smile. I can't even begin to imagine what my life would be like had I not moved to the USA. I would be a very different person. I would not have all the wonderful friends I have today. I would probably not have a xanga. It's such a scary thought to even imagine.
If I were to narrow down my entire life to 4 milestones, immigrating to American would definitely be one of them. What are your milestones in life?

Hasn't exactly happened yet. But I'm pretty sure moving to California will be up there. If I had to choose from my life so far then it would probably be my first job.
it wouldn't be that much different if you hadn't immigrated. you'd just be watching gay chinese porn instead of gay american porn. and if you moved to northern china, joey kabobs would go well with deep fried scorpions. death to joey.
Happy anniversary!
Happy 20th Anniversary!
I don't quite know what my milestones are. I'd say finishing high school/starting university would be one.
Happy 20th Anniversary!!
Awww... you're so cute wuwu "I would probably not have a xanga. It's such a scary thought to even imagine." hahahahahaha! XD
Happy 20th Anniversary
hrm... not sure if there are any great milestones in my life... I suppose moving to Taiwan...
of course you wouldn't have xanga, it's blocked by the chinese government censors.....
forget about your 20th anniversary, when did you become a hottie (girl) as indicated by your profile photo>?
oh wow, my family's been in the states for about 20 years too!
i am thankful for your grampa and your dad's awesome career, too.
so what's up with that beautiful profile photo? not that you weren't beautiful before...
Happy anniversary to you and your family. Graduating from HS would be one of the milestones in my life.

america is the land of opportunity if your young, but my relatives just came here and they are unable to adapt to our culture.
your dad made a good decision. even though he have a stable job, sooner or later it will get to the best of him. I think everyone should pursuit whatever they enjoy doing, eventually you will become good at it and earn alot of money or the good life.
GOBAMA!
Wow I didn't know that. Well, I don't know about the milestone because I was born in america. But I think its got to be going to VN for the first time (10-11 years ago)
wow 20 years is US. congrats.
hmm..my coming back to singapore would be one. and the next would be me leaving singapore to go back to london. soon.
happy anniversary!!
This is one of the things I am most grateful for also in my life. If I did not grow up here, I would not be who I am or have the opportunities I have. Many of us take this for granted and it is something that is very near to my thoughts everyday.
Happy Anniversary.
Isn't it funny how the new gold rush is in China now?
Welcome to Amelica, FOB! j/k
I've been here for 25 years and feel the exact same way about this country.
So what kind of artist is your dad?
