  • My Dad Has More Facebook Friends Than Me. FML

A few weeks ago, I got a friend request from my dad. Of course I clicked "Ignore." I'm more than happy that my dad has embraced the whole Web 2.0 Social Networking movement, but I'm not ready to have him on my friends list. I write inappropriate, vulgar statuses all the time and I'm not thrilled at the idea of my dad poking me or buying me as a pet. Also, the last thing I need to read is "25 Random Facts" about my dad. Yes, I know I can limit him with the nifty privacy settings, but that's just too much work on my part.

Last night, I was really bored and decided to e-stalk my dad on Facebook. Yes, I was THAT bored. I had already masturbated (four times), picked my nose and watched the latest episode of "Up in the Club" by Wongfu, what else is there left for me to do?

Let's see how many friends he has.

    w183777967

How did he get from 0 to 464 friends in a matter of weeks? When did my dad become such a social butterfly? Is this his revenge for declining his friend request? Did I remember to poop this morning? So many questions rushed through my mind.

I guess all I can do now is sign up for an account on fmylife.com, submit my story and hope that it gets featured on the front page. FML

  • lmAOLMAOLMAOLMAO!!! wow..i will not add my parents :P

  • oh my. f your life indeed.

  • Parents are full of surprises.

  • My parents are not on Facebook,  I live with them still.   I have not even added my sister,  since she has not tried to friend me.

  • i think your dad has more friends than you and me combined...

i'll leave the rest of that joke up to you, love.

  • Urgh, I think I'd freak out if one of my parents got facebook. One of my relatives added me on facebook recently, I just find it so weird...

  • LOL i won't want my parents on my FB either...even with cousins I am quite reluctant to add them, who knows what they'll tell to their parents :p

  • hahahaha that's so cute!!!

  • Damn! Haha I wonder if he's one of those guys that friends everyone on Facebook though. That, or he's way cooler than you =P

  • Wow that's bad dude.

  • Seriously, FYL, that's some shit.

  • All of his middle school friends, high school friends, college friends, fellow co-workers, etc. etc.

Well, considering he's lived longer than you and met way more people, it's not a lot.

But, 0 to over 400 in a matter of weeks?

    That is just....WoW.

  • I'm not sure what is this whole parents going on facebook thing. My mom hasn't figured that out yet (thank goodness). However, my ex's mother has and added me as a friend. *ugh*

  • Can you link to your dad's Facebook so that I can add him?

  • wow dude, you just got pwned! and I'm gunna add him later tonight haha

  • hahahaha. i think the most important question that you need to answer is if you remembered to poop this morning. otherwise, that would result in another FML story.

  • What's FML?

    Fucking Masturbating Last night?

  • Does it really matter that much?

  • that's even worse than my boss adding me...

  • Owned by your dad, hahah

  • Wowzerss your dad sure is popular~!

  • wow. He puts my social life to shame!

  • lol my parents are on fb too! but they don't have THAT many friends. phew. well.. you CAN add your parents and block them from seeing your status updates and pics. thats wat i did.

  • this is totally FMyLife material!

  • dude yeah. this IS totally FML material!

  • My dad uses Facebook better than I do!
You know you ought to block your dad as well, 'cos he can easily find your stuff from your friends, if they happen to have a public profile.

  • OmG!~ O.O *ROFL* He's impressive!~ In just a matter of weeks too? Wow!~

  • OWNED! LOL

    Great Blog

  • wao i cant believe he has that many friends! my 36 and 45 yr old sisters has 3 times the amount of friends I do on FB. So i understand =/

  • Be glad your dad is cyber space friendly and being active. I can't even get my own mother to reply my emails.

  • OMG! You won't believe this, but my mom just got more facebook friends than me too! I was freaking out!

  • Hahaha, fmylife.com was seriously the first thing I thought of when I started reading this!

That really sucks. Luckily, although my dad has wholeheartedly embraced the web 2.0 crap, he has yet invade my facebook territory. (Although he did ask me yesterday if I knew anything about blogging. I conveniently dodged the question, making sure not to mention the word "Xanga"...I knew it would only bring further questioning.)

  • Haha...every kids worse nightmare....a "cool dad"

  • ahahahahhahaha.

    The FMYLIFE part..priceless

  • haha my freaking grandpa is on facebook

  • yo, you gotta know one thing, parents cant use the internet right... theyll just add whoever, but he probably only knows like 1/3 of those people, so yea, masturbating 4 times, holy crap, thats alot haha

  • hahaha I can't imagine either of my parents having a Facebook! lol

  • hahahha. oh my i'm cracking up. my dad has a myspace, so i know how you feel.

  • My mom made me add her. I ddin't particularly mind then, but now she's reading all my notes and she's like "You said some inappropriate things on there." And I'm like, WTF, I don't care, it's facebook. I have 360 friends. My mom has 95. I'm still good. Ahaha

  • my mom just got a facebook..we're not friends for the same reasons. the last thing i need is for my mom to comment one of my pictures with "cover up" or "this is innapropriate" fuck that shit lol.

but i can say i relate to the whole her having more friends than me part. but im pretty positive if she did and i found out id take a bath with my toaster.

    =]

  • Haha same with my Mom. She has more than I do. Very interesting.

  • bwahaha, take that.

    @Yosho -

Throwing salt on the open wound! You're awesomely funny.

  • that sucks.
delete him off your buddy list!!!
    -aim-

  • lmfao, youre hilarious

  • maybe your dad just added random people

  • I know how you feel. My dad added me on myspace, and of course i denied him also.
Its not like i right things that are really that inappropriate but i dont want my dad snooping
around my profile once a week, watching what im writing. And im writing nothing bad. Myspace
is a friends thing. You can add family, its your decision, but he was telling me that i HAD to add him. He was also
trying to get me to add his creepy new wife, aka my new "step mom"
But i still didnt, its been a few weeks and he hasnt mentioned it, so i dont think he'll make me.
i wouldnt add him anyway. I just dont want to have to watch what im saying or him looking through my comments
because i cant control what my friends say. So either way im not adding him. Theres no point.

    Okay, bye[:

  • I'm SO glad my mom doesn't understand the whole fb thing!
He may have just added random people. Does he actually know all of them?

  • whoa your dad has a lot more friends then most of us

  • Maybe your dad just randomly friended people he doesn't even know. I get requests from people in Europe and such that I have never heard of.

  • haha funniest shit ever

  • My grandparents and a couple other family members are on Facebook. I don't really pay attention to how many friends they have but that is a large number indeed. I was going to ask if it mattered but jezzz, 464.

  • yes, you're right it is creepy that to have your 'rents on facebook, i was even creeped out to find certain relatives on facebook although some people are more than willing to have their 'rents friend them on facebook. I actually know of one or more people that have most of their family members added as friends on facebook.

  • hAHAHAHAHA soo funny.

  • my mommy has a facebook.
she comments on my statuses and embarrasses me.
    T_T

  • that's some funny stuff

    FYL&ML.

  • My mom has more myspace friends than me. >.<

  • Haha, oh my. That must be quite awkward. :x

  • Holy shit. You just made my day.

  • whoa. you should be proud. my parents still can't work the VCR.

  • My mother won't LET me make her a Facebook. It's rather sad, really. She'd have more friends than I do, and I have over 1,000. d:

  • lol, that's hilarious. my mom has randomly become a social butterfly lately.. :p creepy.

  • I laughed so hard at this title.

  • I saw that, and LOLed, since we're doing the whole msn talk thing. That sucks.

  • Thank goodness my parents are not into the whole social networking thing. But really, your dad just pwned you.

  • seriously.

    fucking hilarious.
    :)

  • seriously.

    fucking hilarious.
    :)

  • omg thats hilarious. and wow thanks for introducing me to fmylife.com lol

  • Funny plug there about Wongfu. Can't wait for Friday?
As for your dad, it's pretty amazing. I wonder, does he know everyone he's added? Anyways, if my parents had facebook, I'd definitely decline their friend request as well. It just won't do.

  • lol. that sucks.

  • my mom got a myspace, and i added her.. and have logged in once since then. her boyfriend set her a facebook page up, and there is no way i'm adding her, but i have my two aunts, her boyfriend, and my best friend's dad on my list. but they don't tell her what I post ;)

  • lol! he's got more friends than most people i know!

  • i dont think it is a big deal that ur dad has more friends than you. but like you, i wouldnt accept him as friend LOL.

  • hahaha. I have a special myspace and facebook JUST for my family and friends that I dont want to see me write crazy things. haha. Good luck with the FML.com thing. haha.

  • so... what's his email address... ^_~

  • 4 times, huh?....

    lol

  • lmfaoo!  My mom requested me on facebook too and I of course clicked "ignore" as well!  Fortunately, she doesn't have as many friends as me =)

  • ahhaah .. so funny :P

  • wow..that does suck. i would never add my parents on. thank god they havent figured out that they can join facebook. i wouldnt want my parents facebookstalking me either.

  • I'm sorry for your loss of social dignity

  • Just deleted my account. Fuck FB.

  • HAHAHA. that's hilarious.

i'm so lucky...my mom only has 7 friends on facebook =]

  • Is your dad a hax0r?

  • lol, so funny

your blog is really interesting, it made my boring day

    -thx

  • parents + facebook = bad news

i wonder what the next networking phenomenon will be...

  • That is so not cool.  My evil step-mother keeps trying to add me on Facebook.  She only has like 15 friends, though.

  • HAHAHA that is terrible! this made me laugh

  • Haha, I loved this.

Fortunately for me, my mother doesn't even know how to turn on a computer.

  • I love fuck my life!! I saw one on there though..it said something like :Today, I went on my facebook only to find that the only 2 friends requests I got in the past two months was from my parents. FML.

  • How old is your dad? I would freak out if my parents were added me on Facebook specially if he's friend requested my friends. Good luck!

  • my dad has more real life friends than me

  • LOL! My parents are internet illiterate; computer illiterate, technology illiterate. I suppose it may be considered as a benefit to have immigrant parents who know like...less than 500 words in English; no parental block, no locks on the computer...
    ANYWAYS. Funny story!

  • I would never add my own parents, but I'm friends with my friends parents. lol

  • HAHAHHAHAAH he has more friends than me, too! :O

  • Parents should be banded from Facebook. I had a friends mom and dad try to add me on Facebook, I denied them and they told my friend that I was obviously a bad person. haha

  • LOL. parents can be so creepy sometimes.
I remember that they used to read my sister's xanga site everyday..

  • Everyone's worst nightmare is to have their parents on Facebook! My mom has mentioned it...*uhoh!*
    lol nice post

  • Ohhh shitttt. I added my mom, but she only has like 4 friends.

  • i have a pending request from my dad.... i dunno what to do with it

  • that is kind of sad...

  • "Did I remember to poop this morning?"

Oh man that cracked me up!

  • ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO .. HAHAHAHAH .. wuts scary is how all these aunts uncles and old people are on there .. n wut kinda freinds they have LOL

  • He probably added random people. hahah

  • Please read this,

a lot of people have not found out that the "xanga adveritsement" is a fraud, the one about successful stories of losing weightthat after people bought the free trial, the company will keep taking money from their credit card account!
can you please post this because your blog has the most view

  • cool! I'd be happy if my parents figured out facebook. more power to them.

  • I'm really impressed with the fact that there's a website called "fmylife.com."

  • haha, I'm thinking the worst part is I'm thinking my dad is plotting to get one too.

  • you dad will run for public office. That's why he is gathering supporters haha. Race for your own nos, also hehe

  • hahah this cracked me up

  • Cool Dad huh. XD

  • Hahha. My boyfriend's mum is on FB and has added me but she has also sent me a rather sad sounding message asking if her son (my bf) is on a facebook under an alias. I think he has secretly blocked her from finding him.

My mum wanted to sign up for one that day and I stopped her. The audacity!! haha

  • He might secretly be a celebrity

  • i think that your dad always approved other's requests
if u do the same, in no time you'll hv more friends than your dad
and, i agree with you, who would want to hv their parents on any of their social network
    =____=;

i did have a bad experience about my mom viewing my friendster acc,
and she was like hell angry when she read 'about me' status
she right away called me on my cellphone and yelled at me
    gah! >____<'

  • So glad that happened to someone besides me...
    I didn't friend him either...
trying to avoid thinking of the fact that he spends more time on FB than I do.
    Thats it. He's pathetic.
I'M not pathetic - he is!
    There.
Now I can sleep at night.

  • hahaha..outrageous!

  • I'm a Facebook dad keeping tabs on my little angel. She uses the F-word all the time but she tells me about her boyfriend, so I feel pretty lucky to know whose ass I'll have to kick later.

  • luckily, although my father has fully embraced the world wide web ( before i did, even ), he stays strictly upon forum sites specifically targeting his interests ( like motorcycle riding groups ). i don't think i'd know how to feel if i suddenly received a myspace friend request from him; that would be TOO weird. at least i know that's not his cup of tea - at all. so i'm "safe."

  • He doesn't put as much personal (embarrassing) stuff on there so friends anyone who requests...

  • man, that sucks! sorry, dude.

  • That website is great lol
And your dad probably went crazy friending people. Doesn't mean they friended him....necessarily....

  • that's the greatest amount of number i could ever imagine on my list, being a member 2 years ago..

  • Wow. That's hilarious. Both of my parents are too scared of technology to even consider making a page, but my sister refuses to add me. Maybe it's because I have too many friends? :]

  • This is the funniest post I've read in a LONG time.  FML.  So good.  :)

  • This is interesting to me to see the comments of the younger generation about this young mans father being on Xanga. If my sons where still alive and on here I wouldn't want ot intrude on their space. I joined this blog site a couple of days ago because the statistic's showed that the percentage of older people here was higher than other sites. Still not many in my age group. But we all have the same problems or things happening in our live in one form or another. If my son's were still alive I wouldn't want to join their friends list mainly because we really do have a generation gap in likes, dislikes and in the way we communicate. I joined here to try and see if there was a way to get added traffic to my website. But it seems that things are getting a little side tracked. I find your generation very interesting and really surprising most of the majority of the time. And to be totally honest there is no way I would want to be your age in these times. You young women and men today have it far harder than it was for my generation. Everything is basically the same except that people have made the basics of living more complicated for some reason. Your dad doesn't need to be part of your friends list. And you shouldn't let him pressure you in anyway to let him join. But you really don't need to get so upset about it either. He may just be thinking it's a way to bond with you or that you may have been offended if he didn't invite you. Obviously he loves you. Or he just wants to erritate you a little. I used to be good at that. Well I still am. I know sutle little ways to drive my daughters and wife nuts at times. But want to be one of their little fiends? NO. I'm their father and will do everything on this earth to protect them but I'm not one of their little buddies. Oh well there's my two cents. Do with it what you want. But be knd to old people. You will be there some day.

  • My parents have Cyworld (Korean Version).  They friended my cousins in Korea.  I wonder how many of them were thinking "WTF? Why is my uncle trying to friend me?"

  • I'm sorry you got that bored. I'd be a little confused if I discovered that my dad had more Facebook friends than me too.

  • LMFAOOO

  • lollll!

honestly, i think i meet at least 100 people in a year without any effort. Some random friend tagging along with another friend, new college friends, old friends with their new friends, somehow they just keep coming, and next thing you know you've met a hundred people, with a big enough handful you'll see again and will add you on fb. How many years has your dad had above you?

  • hahaha my aunt added me a few days ago and she keeps stalking me with boring messages XD

  • FMyLife is when your friends drop you for a free burger, but keep your dad as a friend.

    Parents these days!

  • My dad's on MySpace, but he's not on Facebook. He and I are each other's No. 1 friend on MySpace.

I welcome my dad's embracing of the Internet.

  • My mom keeps begging me to set up a facebook for her. I refuse...if I have to set it up, she'll going to be asking me a million questions on how to use it, and ask about every little thing on my profile. I don't need that.

  • Hahaha! youre posts are hilarious!

  • lol...I wouldn't want to add my parents either. I guess it's hard to imagine that parents actually have friends and personalities just like us, except they hide them to "raise us the right way" or whatever.

    haha...good luck to ya.

    -Char

  • Hey! I just came from the main xanga page! I liked your blog & wanted to comment.

I don't have to worry about my dad having facebook. He doesn't like all that "Internet" crap anyways. LOL Doesn't understand it, but if he did. I wouldn't know what to do. Maybe accept him & put him on the "private" setting or like you & not accept him at all. Hard to say. But thankfully he thinks its crap & unsafe! haha!

Hm. Pooping is good. So. You could always add more fibre into your diet & I'm sure you'll poop each day & remember.

    LOL

    Love the blog anyways!

  • hahha this is funny. thank god my parents haven't figured out facebook.

  • Hehe. You're so funny.

  • Me and my dad live in the same house..
and i really dont see the point of adding him!
Its my personal social network to link with friends!
    Why should parents get involved?^

  • Wow.. that is awesome.  haha.

  • this makes me glad my dad has no idea how to use sites like that, and my mom barely knows how to turn a computer on. i'd be upset if one of my parents had more friends than me, or if they saw some of the things i posted, lol.

  • lol, well im sure he has quite a bit of years on you. I dont talk to everyone on my facebook, some of them found me after years from elelmentary to high school.

  • LOL! All my aunts and uncles are getting Facebooks and they're my friends online. Thank goodness, my mom never had interest in getting one.

  • lol. nice.
    also, wongfu is awesome.

  • my mum still doesn't even know how to turn a computer on!
    i think i'm safe xD
    x

  • I've just discovered fmylife.com it's wonderful.

and this is soooo fmylife worthy. I've seen one recently that said "I've gotten 2 friend requests in the past 6 months on facebook.. from my mom and dad. FML"

  • LOL First & foremost, you are hilarious!!

  • aww. haha i am sorry to hear that dude. my parents don't have facebook or myspace. they have no desire.

  • My mom made a Facebook for the sole purpose of friending me. I made her delete it... so I understand what you are going through.

  • =D

maybe you should add him. he can hook you up. lol.

    <3

  • lol fuck your life hahahaha

    <3

  • haha my mum and stepdad are like that
    completely obsessed with facebook
posting stuff all the time, and they probably have about the same amount, or more friends than i do!

  • That royally sucks.  I'm so glad my folks haven't explored the social networking jungle.

  • HAHAHAH, wonderful post. My mom made a facebook and invited all of my relatives to join. The whole fucking family tree is on facebook -- great Aunt's second cousin's who I've never met greeting me on facebook, and a grandpa who comments on a Christmas photo 'whos dat old man'. *sigh*

  • lmao. i don't think i'd ever add my parents on facebook, if they ever had one.

  • HAHAHA that's pretty hilarious. BOTH my parents got facebook. I immediately changed my privacy settings so they wouldn't be able to find me.

They don't use it because they don't know many people their own age who uses fb. ha.

  • My mom has a FB.
    She has 653 friends.
    I have 62.

  • haha my parents dont have facebook but if they did i would never add them lol

  • dman homie sucks to be you lmao. Good question I wouldn't know the answer even if it was my dad.

  • My dad xanga stalks me like he's going to find something interesting.

  • My dad created a Facebook so he could check on me, but I changed my privacy settings.

He has more friends than me, too.

  • >.< I meant your dad, not mine. Sorry.

  • hahahahha wow
glad my parents aren't on facebook

  • haha this is hilarious

  • ahah wow, your pops is popular!

and i started watching up in the club as well. :D

  • there's this really creepy guy with an even creepier dad.

the dad totally friend requests all of the guys friends and messages them and writes on their walls and stuff.

goodness. pedo to an all new status.

  • LOL. funny. made me laugh.

x] and i had just watched "Up in the Club" by Wongfu yesterday too.

  • erm..
just cuz he has a lot of friends on fb doesnt mean he has that many friends in real life...

  • haha, masturbate four times? You should've sent me a message; I can entertain you whenever you're bored. =P

  • My parents are my friends on facebook. Hmm.

  • shit! that's weird!

  • My mom added me on myspace, and then I blocked her from viewing my blog and she's been all pissed off about it for months. Im like mom I tell you like 98% of whats in there anyways so whats the big deal. She thinks Im talking about her behind her back. Fortunately though my mom only has like 8 friends on there so...

  • my world has never been the same since my mom stole MY laptop... to check her facebook. o_o

  • LMAO.

    Maybe you just suck. :B

    And what's FML?

  • When did my dad become such a social butterfly? Is this his revenge for declining his friend request? > Did I remember to poop this morning? <LOL

  • Maybe your dad puts out?

  • ahaha. your dad's so cool (Y) ahaha.

  • dang that is not cool!!! i feel sorry for u since my dad only has one,lol

  • This made me laugh really hard. I can't imagine how many friend my father has on facebook.

This is why I don't let him be my friend on facebook.... it's just too weird.

  • They're probably all the friends he had to add in order to add them to the guilds in all of his app games.

  • Hahaha! Nice one.

  • Well, he's older and has met more people. Seriously, I'm 28 and I have high school, college, church, and work friends.... not to mention fellow Navy spouses. It adds up!

  • Lol...

Luckily my parents dont have FB... If they did, I would die. :P

  • Surprise, surprise.

  • Oh God...I was dying when I read this. x]

And I can't believe that fmylife.com is an actual site!

  • LMAOOOO. im soooooo lucky my dad isnt into that facebook/myspace/twitter stuff. (:
however, my dad does have an AIM, and other iMing accounts because he has too many friends to put on just one.
i only have an AIM, and my buddy list hasnt even reached 200 yet. -_-

  • parents on fb: nay, for privacy. yay, though, for their social networking... taking cues from the next generation i suppose.
